Geography
At Thorpe Primary School, children are encouraged to develop a greater knowledge of the world, as well as their place in it. Our Geography curriculum is designed to develop knowledge and skills that are progressive, as well as transferable, from the Early Years until they leave us in Year 6. We also strive to ensure that we use Geography to support each child’s social and cultural development. Within our Geography teaching we ensure our children develop an understanding a range of concepts, including location and place, geographical scale and making connections. We encourage them to ask questions about themselves to find out more about the world around them, and the people who live here, to ensure their learning never stops. We aim to develop the children’s interest and understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. Our curriculum equips children with sufficient knowledge to think, act and work like professional geographers.
