Admission Arrangements

Our school is designated as a Primary School and we educate children from 4+ through to eleven years of age. We also have the facility of an on-site Nursery unit which caters for 52 part time children. Our Nursery caters for children aged 3+.  All children are admitted into our Reception classes in the September of the academic year in which they are five.

Admission to Thorpe School is currently organised by Peterborough Local Authority.  We converted to an academy on 1st April 2018, but will continue to use Peterborough Local Authority to manage our admissions.

The Peterborough Schools Admission information can be found here.

The first priority is given to looked after children, a verified medical need relating to a child, children living within the catchment area and siblings. Please click here for a link to the Peterborough Admissions website.

It is really important to submit your application in good time in case we receive more applications than places and become over-subscribed.  If we are over-subscribed then you have the right to appeal and can find details about the appeals process here.

Independent Appeal Panels meet to consider appeals from parents/carers who are unhappy with their school allocation. Dates for the appeal deadlines for entry into Reception, Y3 or Y7 for September 2025 are available here.

In-year admissions or transfers for the current academic year 2024-25 can also be processed through the Peterborough City Council website.  The deadline dates are listed here.

Before deciding whether Thorpe is the right school for your child, you are warmly invited to visit us for a tour. Please contact the school office on 01733 264340 or office@tps.pkat.co.uk
